Resident Services
Mission
We seek to design, develop, and maintain the highest quality in customer services for our residents through team efforts.
Programs are designed with input from residents, Board of Commissioners, staff, and other concerned citizens.
Security / Drug Prevention
A part-time Special Investigator is employed to investigate allegations of drug-related and criminal activities. The investigator also meets with residents and is involved with the community in a positive manner to assist with community concerns.
Adult Education
Residents are encouraged to enroll for GED classes which are arranged through cooperation with the Alamance Community College and the Educational Opportunities Center. Residents who wish to recieve their high school diploma or enter into college are assisted in the application process as well as locating funds through grants and scholarships.
Youth Recreation
Recreational activities provided for our youth include visits to amusement parks and other places of interest as well as organized sports such as softball, baseball, and basketball, while promoting positive alternatives to peer pressure.
Americorps VISTA
Volunteers in Service to America
Individuals, residents, and nonresidents are assigned to each BHA community to ensure that residents are informed of programs and activities available to our residents. Those residents who are volunteers in this program receive a monthly stipend or check that is not counted as income, therefore does not affect their monthly rent payment.
Leadership Development
Our leadership development is offered through our scouting programs. Our youth participate in the BHA Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
