After School and Summer Enrichment Program
Young Minds at Work and Still Having Fun.
Mission
To improve the academic performance of the children we serve and to encourage respect and discipline.
Objectives
- Assist in completing homework and review for accuracy.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- Provide tutorial assistance through Elon University’s Kernodle Center for Service Learning Program.
- Provide nutritious snacks.
- Provide recreational activities, arts and crafts.
- Expose students to cultural events and other off-site educational activities.
Activities
Youth are assisted with homework and are tutored. Transportation and tutors are provided for this program. College students from Elon University serve as volunteer tutors and mentors to give our youth encouragement to further their education. The kids attend trips to college campuses to instill the value of education as well as cultural enrichment trips to plays and museums.

Schedule
The center operates Monday through Thursday, 3:00 - 5:45 pm. On holidays the Alamance-Burlington school system's schedule will be followed.

What is ABCDE Institute?
A week of educational curricula and activities designed to foster leadership and involvement skills.
ABCDE History
Mr. Richard Martin started the ABCDE Youth Leadership Institute in 1987. Mr. Martin is Chief of the Crime Prevention Unit for the State of North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety.
